WebNow/eForms - Java Error: Missing required Permissions manifest attribute in main JAR
Note: Patches applied to WebNow and eForms on 8/23/14 have corrected this issue. Users should no longer be getting the Security Exception related to the Permissions Manifest Attribute. It is no longer necessary to follow the steps below to add sites to the Java security exceptions list. Resolution: As a workaround, it is possible to add the WebNow URL to a list of sites with exceptions. This will tell Java that WebNow is a safe application to load. Below is the process to do this. NOTE: If you do not see the same security options in the Java Control Panel as appear below, you may need to still update your version of Java to Release 51. This can be done through www.java.com.

ImageNow 6.7 - Unable to access a document in workflow in a Working state
In the 6.7 version of ImageNow, connections to ImageNow are tracked by sessions, and not user ID. As explained in an upgrade status update this means that users can be logged into the system from two separate workstations with the same user ID. However, this does cause a new issue - if you are accidentally logged out or disconnected from the ImageNow client while working on a document in workflow, your open document will be stuck with a status of working and may not be accessible to you. Here are the key points regarding this change:

ImageNow 6.7 - Unable to Create File Error or Program Freezes when Logging In
Problem: When launching ImageNow 6.7 for the first time, you may experience one of the following issues:
Cause: In both cases, the issue appears to be caused by administrator privileges on the computer. This only occurs with Windows Vista, 7, or 8. Windows XP appears to be unaffected. Resolution:
The first step of running as administrator should only need to be run the first time you launch the program after the upgrade installation. The ImageNow client is attempting to create a file it needs to run, but due to security limitation it is unable to do so. Once the file is created, the program will run as it normally should. |
ImageNow 6.7 - Toolbar Warning
Changes to the toolbar settings between versions may cause customized toolbars to reset. The first time a document is viewed after upgrading the ImageNow desktop client to version 6.7, the following message may appear: |
WebNow/eForms Certificate Expiration Error
NOTE - This issue is now fixed with the upgrade of ImageNow to the 6.7 version. The trusted site certificate for WebNow and eForms will expire on 6/14/2013. Starting on 6/15/2013, users will receive a certificate warning when accessing WebNow or a form created through eForms. Important information on this message:

WebNow and Java 7
NOTE - This issue is now fixed with the upgrade of ImageNow to the 6.7 version. Over the past few months we have seen a noticeable increase in issues with WebNow, primarily with printing. These issues have been due, in large part, to the installation of Java 7 on the affected workstations. Currently, WebNow does not fully support Java 7. Unfortunately, Oracle is pushing out updates to move users from Java 6 to Java 7, which is leading users to automatically update their system to the newer version. Oracle officially ended support for Java 6 in February of this year. It is our understanding that Perceptive Software, the vendor for ImageNow/WebNow, will be providing an update to WebNow soon that will support Java 7. In the interim, we are advising WebNow users, especially those who need to print from WebNow, to not upgrade to Java 7. If you find that this has already happened and you are running into issues with pages printing blank, etc., you will need to uninstall Java 7 and re-install Java 6. This should be something that your local IT support can help you with if you are not comfortable doing this yourself. Note that this issue is only with WebNow and that users of the ImageNow client should be unaffected by the Java update. I have included a couple of links below which should help with this process. The first is to a tool that will let you check which version of Java is installed on your computer - 6 or 7. The second is a direct link to download Java 6 if you need to re-install it. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns. Java Version Check: Java 6 Download: |
